Short Stories

Currently Listening To Irresistible by Fall Out Boy

The site that currently hosts my short stories, QuarterReads.com, is no longer active (*sad face*). In light of that, I’ll be looking for another place to post the stories. I’ll probably settle on Wattpad, but I’ll do my due diligence and see what other options are out there. In the meantime, I’ll also be posting the full short stories (rather than the shorter samples) here on my site.

If you use any sites to post short stories or other writing, or if you have favorite sites to go to read content on, let me know! What sites do you like? Dislike?

Updates and (lack of) NaNoWriMo Progress

First, a few updates:

1. I have a new short story up on QuarterReads, as found on my writer profile here.

2. I’m currently wrapping up final editing, and a cover is in the making for Songstruck, which I hope to have available by the end of the year.

Now, then. NaNoWriMo. I was so excited to participate this year, and I made it almost 20,000 words in so far. So I’m already behind, but at this point, I might have to bow out entirely. It’s hard to find time to write–it always is. But this year, there are so many projects in the making for me, it’s harder than usual. It looks like NaNo will take a back seat until next year. Instead, I’ll be turning my focus toward my coursework, work, and of course, finishing up the final editing of Songstruck.

So to all of you who are still writing furiously toward the 50,000 words, good luck!

QuarterReads.com- A new site for writers and readers

Currently listening to: the sounds of my annoyed puppy, who can’t get up the stairs because of a baby gate we bought for exactly that purpose.

Today, I just wanted to take a quick moment to direct your attention to quarterreads.com. The site just launched earlier this week, and it’s worth a look.

What is it? It’s a site where writers can post their short stories (less than 2k words), and readers can, well, read them. Each story costs $0.25 to read (hence the ‘quarter’ part), and readers may tip the authors up to $1.00 if they enjoyed the story. You get to preview the story before you read it, though, and you only need to pay if you decide you’re interested in reading the story in its entirety.

Currently, I have 3 stories submitted on the site. To find them, simply search “Sofia Black” in the searchbar. Or you can find two of my stories in the “horror” and “fantasy” toplists, respectively. The third story, due to a broader genre definition, is not currently visible on any of the toplists. And of course, there are many, many other authors on the site, with their own wonderful stories. And it’s all just waiting for you to find it.
